Reaching for the stars
About Petite AcademyPetite Academy has now been running drama classes for 12 years. We have gradually grown from delivering nursery classes, to school classes and then having our own studio. This has allowed us to expand our specialisms such as musical theatre, acro, yoga, play sessions, sensory and Makaton. Our team has over 50 years experience and specialise in different creative arts and play.
Our aim is to provide a high standard of extra curricular activities, whilst providing the best service. We help all children to aspire to be the best they can be.
We love to take children on different adventures and know the power of creative arts and play.
As well as play and creative arts benefitting confidence and communication, research now shows that it can help with every day problems, such as anxiety in children.
Team…
Meet Deborah Carr
I first entered the world of theatre when I was just 4 years old when I started taking dance classes. At 16 my training continued at a full time theatre school where I gained Qualified Teacher Status in Dance and Performing arts with the Royal Academy of dancing. Upon graduating I secured a contract teaching ballet at a school in Norway. since my return to the U.K in 2001 I have taught dance and drama in various nurseries and schools and joined Petite team in 2014.
I’ve since gone on to further my skills becoming a Makaton signing for Babies tutor and Baby Massage instructor.
For me theatre is a world of imagination that comes to life. Working with children means, I now get to spend my week going to a ball, swimming with dolphins or finding Nemo!! For me the most rewarding part of my job is seeing the children’s confidence grow week by week. Their amazing creative minds make every day fun.
What our Parents think…
“My daughter started at Petite when she was around 20 months old. We joined the parent and toddler Saturday morning group. Initially, I attended the free trial and in all honesty I never intended to stay on as I was just looking for something to get out the house due to building work at the time. Anyway, nearly 4 years on we are still here and love being part of Petite Academy. My daughter participates in acro, musical theatre and now has private singing/lamda sessions. Vicky and Deborah are brilliant at what they do. They have so much energy and creativity along with time and patience that my bubbly, outgoing daughter needs. She loves the classes and I love watching her develop in so many ways. It is part of our life now and we look forward to the annual events that Vicky and her team work so hard to provide. I have a newborn and she will be joining the classes too. To sum up, Petite offers fun and creative classes that incorporate physical and musical development along with language and imagination, in a caring and maturing environment where children make friends and flourish!”
“Thank you to Vicky, Deborah and all the petite team you are all incredible!! My daughter loves coming to petite every week, the classes she attends has increased over the years, true testament to the team and the enthusiasm they build for the children!! Drama has been our saving grace over the 3 lockdowns, providing some normality not only for our daughter but us too!! Nothing is every too much trouble! Thank you”
“Back in 2017 my daughter had been out for school for 10 months due to a health condition, she was struggling socialising and lacked confidence in being with others. We saw the Petite float at Leyland Festival and decided this might be the way forward. With small classes in a comfortable environment and friendly, supportive team she really started to flourish and we have never looked back. Both my girls love their Petite sessions and look forward to the performances.
