7-15 years oldOur Musical Theatre and Acro school, has different classes for each age range. We believe all our children need to learn the three key areas, dance, drama and singing in performing arts to ensure they offer a well rounded performance.
Musical Theatre
Our Musical Theatre classes are aimed at children between the ages of 4-15 and touch on all three elements of musical theatre – dance, drama and song. Each child is encouraged to develop an interest and ability in all three areas to eventually gain a well-rounded performance style.
Students will work on excepts from two or three musicals at any one time as well as build their dance and singing technique through warm-up and vocal exercise. These classes also builds our students technique and knowledge across different styles within musical theatre, enabling the student to hone skills specific to certain performances within this area of the performing arts.
Acro Dance
Students will learn the basic steps of acro but will be able to place them into combinations and complete more difficult moves. Focussing on strength and flexibility in order to allow students to hold their Acro skills for longer.
The Acro skills will be more complex and may include, rolls (forwards and backwards), cart wheels (1 handed), handstands, balances, flexibility, strength exercises, toe clutches, bridges and many more!
Once these steps are mastered studenets start to build up to more advanced steps, such as ariels (sideways and forwards), handstand forwards rolls, back handsprings, front handsprings, and scorpions.
The class will also incorporate some pair and group work, which will aid the student’s balance, and teamwork skills. The classes follow the Acrobatic Arts syllabus, and students can take exams should they so wish.
Singing
We have small singing classes, that work on the children vocal techniques, we ensure the classes are fun and creative to keep the children engaged but also we ensure the children can hold a tune.
LAMDA – Exam classes
In addition to our Musical Theatre classes we also offer Private tuition and LAMDA Speech & Drama exams. These examinations are awarded by (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts).
LAMDA examinations help students develop a broad range of skills that will serve them throughout life, improving confidence in speaking & listening, being able to memorise and recall information, and helping to develop social skills. LAMDA exams are open to all ages and are widely recognised, with higher grades counting for UCAS points for university entry.
